We were right next to the nature center and the ropeway. There was also a little nature path very near the hotel. I loved the hot baths - very clean. The meals were excellent - dinner and breakfast. The ropeway had a convenient cafe for lunch.

Amazing Japanese onsen hotel at the foot of the Asahidake Ropeway!

My whole family loved this Japanese onsen hotel! It is not as traditional as a Japanese ryokan, but the accommodations were superb. The four of us (four adults) stayed in a Maisonette room, which was huge with two levels. Very comfortable beds, very quiet, and comfortable seating area in the middle. The bathroom was spacious as well, and included a huge bathtub for those who don't want to use the hotel onsen. Everything looked new and was extremely clean, and the decor was tasteful and soothing. They provide high-quality pajamas, bathing robes, teas, etc. The hotel onsen was very large and modern, very clean, and uncrowded. I would have liked the water to be a little hotter, though. We had our meals included in our rate, and enjoyed the variety and quality of food available in the buffet restaurant. And the location at the base of the Asahidake Ropeway was very convenient -- an easy five minute walk to the Ropeway. And believe me, when you spend the day climbing Mt. Asahidake (which is a pretty challenging but awesome climb), you will be grateful that you are so close to your hotel, where you can soothe your aching muscles in the onsen! The staff at the hotel was excellent and friendly, too. We would love to come back for a longer visit next time!

We pretty much liked everything! Just be forewarned that there isn't much around in the area - just a few other small hostels/inns. And coming by car is a must.

Relax and unwind

Perfect location for our Ski trip, very close to the ropeway and facilities were everything you would expect from a 5 star onsen hotel.

No massage services on site, this could be an improvement and much used service.

A fabulous place to stay if skiing Asahidake.

Fantastic rooms. Great meals. Excellent Onsen. Fantastic location.

The outside Onsen was a cold pool and would have been better if it was hot. It was drained on the third day which was disappointing.

Fantastic Room and Great Sleep.

Room was spacious, clean and liked the variation of pillows offered and amenities including onsen. Allocated second floor where view was hindered by grills. Great sleep. Great location .. walking distance to the Asahidake ropeway.

Food at restaurant could have been better. Hotel advertisement highlighted the set meal with steak for dinner which was included in the room package. Sorry to say the steak was most underwhelming as it was very miniature. I am comparing it with another onsen hotel in Hokkaido which cost less per night.

Wonderful

Breakfast is average. But, tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette) and scramble egg are fantastic. Beef, main course dinner is great. Quiet and private atmosphere. Room is in great condition and comfortable.

Hotel bar and cafe are close during our stay, it might be open during ski season. If the hotel could provide gym facility would be nice.

Comfortable and enjoyable stay and would be perfect if they upgraded the onsen

Excellent and helpful staff and the location is perfect for hiking and going up the ropeway. The meals were varied and abundant. I loved hanging out in the comfortable library when it was too hot to be outside. Easy to arrive on a bus from Asahikawa airport if you can arrive before 4pm. Otherwise you have to hire an expensive taxi like I did. But the hotel was very helpful in arranging a taxi for me.

Sadly one of the reasons I booked here was because of the onsen but it was a BIG disappointment. They wouldn't allow you to be outside (because they said hikers could see you (as if I care!!) and it was way too lit up to enjoy it.

Great stay at Hotel Bearmonte

The hotel is right at the base of the ropeway of Asahidake. The hotel is beautiful and the onsen is fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a lot of options for different kinds of food.

Fantastic hotel with very helpful and kind staff

I had a very relaxing time at this hotel! Beautiful modern rooms with great views; very good food; very helpful staff who helped me plan the next steps of my trip. The onsen had several pools and was generally quiet.

While the dinner food was very good, the starters could be changed more often. But that’s really a minor comment as the food was very good.

Spacious rooms and chilled environment. Tried the room with balcony and got to enjoy viewing shooting stars. One of the best reason for putting Asahidake Onsen as a Hokkaido pitstop despite the obscure location.

Location was good, 2min walk away from the Asahidake ropeway station. Rooms were spacious and airy, place was relatively new and clean.

Relaxing, inviting, delicious food, plenty of room, Bearmonte had it all.

The hotel is wonderful, with ready access to the ropeway up the mountain next door. The snow that came in October made it impractical for this old couple to use the ropeway but the onsen’s facilities, including their library, and especially the staff, made this a delightful quiet, restful stay.

The room was huge! Since there wasn't much to do in the area after hiking, I enjoyed the facilities offered by the hotel -- sauna, dinner and breakfast buffet. They even had a laundry area on the 3F.
